Aunt Hazel and Uncle Hal by Milt Lytle August 2014

Aunt Hazel and Uncle Hal lived in California for some time and then moved to Utah and bought a ranch in Diamond Valley. That house and ranch at one time belonged to my great grand father, John Milton Lytle. Uncle Hal raised turkeys and also some produce on the ranch. No power lines or telephone so they really roughed it and used propane delivered to them to cook with and light the house at night and early morning. Merlyn was my age and Spencer was just a little younger. I spent some time at their ranch and explored the area. They had one cow if I remember right so that was their source of milk and they also used a cream separator and sold the cream to help with expenses. The turkey feed came in flowered cloth bags so there was plenty of them so they were distributed around once they were emptied to make dish towels, curtains or whatever. Later they moved to American Fork as the ranch wasn't that profitable. Uncle Hal got a job raising turkeys for a man in A.F.  After Uncle Hal retired they bought a mobile home on the northwest side of A.F.  It was always a custom to visit Aunt Hazel and Uncle Hal every time we passed through A.F. or any where else Aunt Hazel lived after Uncle Hal passed away.
